Collection Statement

The Consumer Action Law Centre (CALC) is seeking to improve how insurers and warranty companies treat their customers. We’re helping people across Australia who’ve been ‘mis-sold’ consumer credit insurance, gap insurance and extended warranties for used cars.

To assist us helping you to create a complaint letter and conduct our activities, we need to collect personal information about you. Your personal information will be used to generate a complaint letter based on the information provided by you to us and includes saving your information on our system and subsequently tracking the progress and success of your complaint. By filling out this form, you agree that we will hold this information.

We may use your information for other specific purposes if you provide your consent.

By providing your personal information to us, you agree that it will be used and disclosed by CALC in accordance with this statement and our Privacy Policy, available at https://consumeraction.org.au/privacy-statement/ If you do not agree, you must not provide your personal information, and we may not be able to communicate with you or provide certain services to you, nor will you be able to create a complaint letter to send to the relevant organisation.
We may disclose your personal information to other parties who provide products and services to us in the ordinary operation and administration of CALC and in accordance with our Privacy Policy. These third parties may be located anywhere in Australia.

To the extent that your information is unidentifiable (ie. cannot be recognised or established as being related to you), we may disclose this information to regulators and other industry bodies such as the Australian Securities and Investment Commission (ASIC) and the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) to help us with our campaign. We may also disclose your personal information to regulators and these other bodies if you consent.

We may use and disclose your personal information to contact you in so far as it relates to this Campaign. By using the form you consent to us contacting you.
Our Privacy Policy contains information about how you may access and seek correction of your personal information, how you may complain about a breach of your privacy, and how we will deal with that complaint.

If you are providing us with personal information (including in the course of responding to the Questionnaire) and such personal information is the personal information of any other person, you warrant that the person is aware of and has consented to the use of their personal information in accordance with this collection statement.
